    '83 GS1100E Fairings? (POTM Sept. 2010 question)

Hey all, I'm just about a month until my GS1100E is back on the road! I'v scoured the forums and I wanted to ask if anyone found out how to get a fairing/cowl setup like is shown on the Photo of the Month Sept.2010? Other then making an offer to Brian Higganbotham to buy his bike, I have no options.I'v been racking my brains on this one, I'd rather not settle on a GSX1100EF fairing..
Advice, Opinions, Direction, Criticizm, and Leads are all welcome!

    Thanks!

    Lars T.

That's a tough one. Fairings like that are quite rare. I'll be watching this thread to see what you come up with.

    Good luck.

That appears to be a Pichler fairing....they were made in Germany, and it might be quite difficult to find a decent one for your bike now. A Hannigan fairing also offers similar lines and coverage...I had a picture of one on an 1100E, that I unfortunately deleted just last week. They are quite rare too, though.

No problem...it happens. Here are some pics from a Hannigan web page (click for larger pics), to check out.

Found several Pichlers on global.ebay.com but none were Suzuki specific just Yamaha, BMW, and Kawasaki. Don't know if you could get one from another bike to fit but I wouldn't chance it on the prices they're asking.

This is a real late-night thought.. But I'v built engine cowls for homebuilt aircraft.. I'm wondering if I should spend 2 months and just carve and lay up my own. That or make some plugs of an existing design, like the Pichler's... Hmmm....
