I am trying to find a set of guages for the 1981 GS1000 but i aint finding any good working ones, I am curious what gauges would be compatible with that bike , years and such?

Just about any of them will work, the biggest problem is the wiring harness changes. With a couple of wiring schematics of two sets of gauges you can move the wires around in the connector to be where they need to be for your bike. You can also get a good set of cups ( the actual speedo and tach) and change them to your cluster to make a good set. -
How badly beaten up are they, they can be raised from the dead, even when they look terminal, I posted a thread here about two years ago on rebuilding my gauges after an all fall down.
