Can i remove the sissy bar on a gs650?

Will this cause any problems with the bike i wouldnt think so but i see that it is mounted to the shocks. I didnt want to just take it off without knowing. Thanks for helping a newbie out.

seriously, take it off, it looks better without it. I have one on my bike but only because the gf prefers it.

haha yea i figured it would look better thats why i want it off but i just didnt know if it would affect the shock at all or would have to put washes where the sissy bar was to put the shocks back in the same position/angle they were at.
