pretty sure they arent the same...but then im never sure about model names over your side of the water

Isn't GSX750EF a later Katana? It would not be the early 80's Kat but the later, full body covered Kat. Or maybe I'm full of it.

The GS was the designation for the old 8 valvers whilst the GSX was the 16 valver everywhere except in the US for some unknown reason

That's as I understand it works every where...E= naked, S= Sport (half fairing), F=full fairing.
But these letters shouldn't be confused with the letter used to designate the model year. i.e 83=D, 84=E, 85=F, 86=G, 87=H (goes off the rails after 87).
Also other letters used to designate other differences. i.e shaft drive=G, Apehangers & bent banana seats =L (for LOL) etc
