    Painting chrome

    Hey folks,

I have some chromed parts that are going to require some welding. Rather than let them rust after they are welded, I would like to paint them. Can anyone give me any pointers for painting them, such as do I need to sand the chrome off, or just rough it up? Would bead blasting with glass beads work better?

    Thanks

To do it right make sure the welds are supreme so you don't need to touch up weld or repeat this. Then have it blasted to clear the chrome and then you can elect to have it re-chromed or nickle plated. Or you could prime and paint. All depends on your liking but this will ensure a long life for your repair that will look good.

      Hello Brandon
If you choose to paint your parts blast off the chrome. Prime the parts with an etching primer then a two part primmer and then a quality topcoat. to ensure a rust free long life, or have the parts powdercoated to your color of choice. Best of luck.
