Cool, thanks for that, seems lots of people have different answers, time to just fiddle and see what works by the looks.Originally posted by 7th day View Post1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Those are Daytona's. Too much rise for Superbikes or Euro bars.Originally posted by AX2007 View PostOn an unrelated-to-gauge-clusters note, what handlebars are those? I'm guessing the "European" style bars? 1980 GS1000G - Sold 1980 GS1000G - Sold

Now I'm happy... got my gear position indicator back and added a voltage monitor to go with the Acewell:

Cheers Paul! Not what I originally envisaged but once I laid it all out and worked out what clearance I had between the ignition switch and fly screen it sort of designed itself in the end, but I'm really happy with it now and that Acewell is just awesome.Originally posted by Redneck View PostDamn Pete that looks good all kinds of futuristic... I know it's not quite in line with the theme of the bike, but it's somewhat '80's science fiction style 1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie 1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Mate I'm happy as Larry. It sits outside in the sun all day at work and has been through rain and hail unscathed.

Probably the only issue is in bright sunlight it can get hard to see the indicator LED's but I can live with that.

As far as the install goes, the hardest thing is finding a good location for the speed sensor, so I just copied the idea of the bracket they showed on their website and it ended up not being too hard at all. It even looks half decent with a few coats of satin black spray paint too.

Just do yourself a favour when hooking up the tacho signal, don't do what others do and try to hook the wire straight to the negative of the coil, make sure you use the included resistor as that made it work reliably first time out.

If you look through the Acewell forums you'll see heaps of issues getting it to work, but every time the answer is the same... use the resistor provided.1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie
