rattle can "match" for Marble Ontario Blue?

    Hi

I'm trying to get a matching paint for my 79 GS850.
This is for the side covers only - one fell off (on the way home from the PO!) so i currently have a black set on the bike.
I've taken off the badges and I'd like to spray those black covers to match the tank and rear.

From some searching on the forums and looking at a few sites and pdfs, i'm pretty sure that my paint code is
08h | Marble Ontario Blue | Laquer style paint.

I'm wondering if anyone's had luck finding a match for this color (in a rattle can). Doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be close enough to not look weird, since I'm only spraying the covers and the tank will still be original paint.

If there's a consensus that the only way to do this is getting a shop to match the color and then use a paint sprayer, I'm interested in hearing that too. If that's the case I'll just buy some flat black rattle cans to put a new coat on the current black covers. They look nice enough what with the black frame, tires, saddle... Just would prefer to get it closer to stock.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Aaron

thanks but i didn't have any luck there - i was on their site yesterday after looking at some other posts here on GSR.

using their wizard, their year selector only goes back to 86, and if you choose 86 you only get honda as an option.

i tried entering "marble", "08h", and "ontario" as search terms but i think it's just too old and they don't offer it anymore. at least not under that name.

If not, pull the fuel tank, take it to an automotive paint store that has a scanner.

I still have one blue side cover; it's already off the bike, so that would be easy enough to bring somewhere.

So will a store like that mix a custom paint and put into a rattle can? I've never used their services and kind of assumed anything they mixed custom would only be sold as liquid.

                their response:
                "Hello Aaron,
Unfortunately we do not have this color available and we don’t know of anyone that will have it. We apologize for the inconvenience, thank you.

response Anyway, I did contact a local auto paint shop who could probably take care of it for me, but it seems like it could get pricy ($40-70, depending mostly on the paint quality).

So still curious if anyone's had luck finding this particular color already made in a shop.

                picture for reference:

take the cover into a larger Napa store and they will scan it and color match the color mix it up and put in a spray can for you. My brother had that done this last summer for a touch up paint job he was doing. Looked great

May be a bit of a hassle and a bit pricey with shipping, but I have had paint mixed and put in rattle cans by these guys when I lived I the Detroit area.. If you can get a scan and the mix code, then I am sure they can do it for you. I believe they have a scanner as well. If they do, then you could send them the cover and have them ship you a can back with your cover.. Heck give them a call and see what they can do..phone call is cheap enough.
