Think I'm using the wrong term. The stock semi gloss would be the thing I would do.Must admit I was going to add satin to the poll question and forgot.
Even the satin finish seems to matte.

Just a thought but I wonder if the reason Suzuki used a the matt/satin finish was to match the finish on the airbox.Comment

Here's another what I believe is a stock example you can look at.

So Dale, being the purist that I think you are, are you going to PAINT your covers, or leave them ORIGINAL? Does anyone make that finish, that is
Orange Peel "textured" semi-gloss/matte black?"
Here's some original frame covers in non-original condition, hard to believe the prices they want for these things nowadays.

Steve, I will be repainting the side covers with somewhere around a 70% gloss black SSU. the plan is to turn down the air pressure and see if that will give me the texture I'm looking for.Comment

Here's another bike to look at. You could always flip a coin as to determine which way to go. I hadn't planned on painting my covers, my painter suggested it, and that's how my decision was made, otherwise they would've stayed stock.

Though about mixxing up gloss and satin to get the "right" finish
Seems like more work than going gloss.Hmmmm........

I got a really nice black satin finish on my GS1100E luggage rack by using
a high gloss black in very high humidity.
Not really what I wanted but I've kinda gotten used to it, since there's so many matte black parts on that bike.
