Cheap paint jobs. Pics please.

So how many of you have done a rattlecan paint job as instructed here?
I'd really like to see some of the results. Please, lots of pictures.
I'm trying to get a temp tank, while I mod mine, and this sound like a fun way to dress it up.
And if it comes out good enough, I'll try to do it again on my modded tank.

Not a rattlecan, this one cost me about fifty bucks:





This one is Diplicolor's Paint Shop paint, shot through a cheap HF touch up gun, with a two part urethane clear to make is gasoline proof.

And that's a sweet looking Cafe. One of the nicest I've seen.

Thanks, but there's nothing cafe about it, stock 650G with super bike bars.

You need to be careful about gas if you don't put a 2 part clear on. BUT if you don't put a 2 part clear on it's easy to colour sand & re-finish the paint with a fine cutting polish but you need to get a lot of paint on to start with... (8-9 coats) so you have plenty to work with later....

It's easy. Just act like a perfectionist when you are doing the preparations. Then it will come out fairly nice...

If you want it really perfect you better find a real perfectionist who knows what he's doing.
Like Nvr2old, or Nessism for instance

If you are not a perfectionist and are nearsighted like me, you can take off the glasses to review your paintwork. Myopia removes more defects than sanding and gives you a good sense of the bike's appearance on the road (i.e., at speed).

I was going to do it myself as well on my build, however I found a place to do it for 350 bucks, so I opted for that route instead. There are things I will not do on my own, painting the tins was one of them, and the recovering of the seat was another.

Doing it yourself, and using rattle can paint will not be very expensive, and if it doesn't turn out as well as you hope, sand it down, and do it again, until you get it the way you want.

Yes.

Auto parts store, hardware store, Walmart.

Any big name brand such as Krylon, Duplicolor, Rustoleum is OK.
Avoid the cheap store brand crap, it doesn't work very well. Use the same brand primer as your paint.

Get the 2K clear on line or at a paint supply place that sells automotive paint.
