Testors rc car paint

I just got done painting an Rc car body. I know my gs450l doesnt run but i am thinking the paint scheme would look good on the bike. Will an enamel spray paint hold up? i am thinking of priming the bike with white primer, then laying a metallic gold base coat with a candy apple red on top with a few coats of clear. I have yet to figure out what to do with my rusty fenders.

Enamel and acrylic paint will go on fine, but any splash of fuel and you can kiss the job goodbye.

I believe you guys can get a 2K clear in a can that should protect it, but I don't know how well or if it can go over enamel or acrylic.

I did a proper 2K job on my 450 and it's had the occassional fuel splash while filling up (you just can't avoid it sometimes) and no issues whatsoever.

I'm thinking of picking this up to hit my polished bits with. the laquor i used sucks.

what can i do to prep the rusty chrome fenders for paint?

The simplest would be a wire wheel on a drill or similar and go at them with that. Make sure all that chrome is good and scratched up then start sanding it smooth enough for a primer to do the rest.

I know of someone that used Testors candy red on a { running } XR75 because he didn't like the silver.
after the first re-fill, the most of red was gone ! a wipe of a rag removed all evidence of it.
and Yes, he sprayed it while it was running !
