How to find OEM painted part numbers?

    Hi all,

My left hand side cover fell off of my 80 GS550E so I'm looking for a replacement. BikeBandit can provide painted OEM pieces but they need the specific part number. My bike is red but I cannot find the paint code or the part number anywhere. I've found the left side cover part number but I don't know if that includes paint.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or at least know what the paint codes are for that year?

    Thanks!

Look at the part fishe for your bike, in the Optional tab. The color code chart is there.

Suzuki doesn't sell colored parts anymore. Side covers come in unpainted black ABS.

On the parts fische after the part number is a hyphen then a 3 digit code.
The 3 digit code is the paint code number.

Thanks for replies. I checked the parts fiche and none of them have the color code after the part number and there's no paint listed in optional

It sounds like I'll have to have this piece painted unless I can find a used one in the same color. Any other suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!

Just checked and you are right about the Optional tab. Not sure why but the color info has been removed for your bike.

If you check the Frame Cover tab they list the various applicable color codes as a three digit suffix on the part number, but don't say what the numbers represent. At any rate, it doesn't matter because you can't use the code to translate into paint anyway. Your best bet is to find a paint store that can match the color for you and put the paint in a rattle can. Of course finding a side cover on ebay of the right color is also worth a glance.

          Good luck

Ahh this is so frustrating. If I could just find out what the color code is I could probably order the paint from somewhere.

@Nessism Your suggestion to get paint to match is a good idea - what paint shops can put it into a rattle can? Not sure if Home Depot or Lowes do this.
