Interchangeable Seats for What Years?

i have a 1979 GS550. Im trying to find a new seat to fit it that I like. Does anyone know what year seats will fit this bike from other GS`s?

What model of 550 is it? If it's an "L" it's doubtful you'll find another to fit it without modifying the mounting brackets.

I believe it's just a regular GS550. I can't find anywhere it says a model. I checked the vin and the title.

If it's not an L it's probably an E. The L models have a lower stance than the others. I'd Google some pictures of a 1979 GS550 and see which one looks most like yours and then check the source of the picture. Not fool proof, but it should help.

Something like this one? It will need the piping in the front to be glued down with black weatherstrip adhesive. Or, I could do it.
I have not cleaned or conditioned this seat yet and it could use some paint underneath.
