1983 gs450E tank on a 450L

Has anyone done this? does it fit the frame? what is the best way to rewprk the rear mounting? any help greatly appreciated. Tank I am looking at has no rust, good petcock, gas cap included for $40.00.

I would really like to use this tank for my L model cafe project, but am not sure if I am getting in over my head.

Don't the E and L tanks use the same rear mount, (A single bolt)? I think the front mounts would have to be relocated to a point closer to the head tube.

Honestly though, you should buy that tank regardless of whether or not you'll use it, I've seen those tanks go for a whole lot more than $40 in pretty bad shape.

Ok gentleman I spoke with claims it is a83450E tank. I know the rear mounts are different but that seemed to be the easiest of the two fixes.

Are the front mounts the same size? I have heard of some people having to move the front mounts as well.

If I have to remove all of the mounts I am screwed (no welder).

Someone has had to of attempted this modification before.
