As Tim Tom mentioned, it's rarely largely due to the short production run. That makes parts finding a bit of a pain, compared to the more common bikes. If you do swap parts out be sure to post the parts up for sale for us restoration guys.Originally posted by Shwartz View PostI did some searching on the forum but couldn't find the "E" model designated anywhere. I can find "L"'s and "XL's" but no "E". Can someone link a thread stating why it's rare?
Oh and I love the GTI sticker. Heh!

OK, how about a compromise for my fist road bike?

That's really just bars and paint, maybe a stripped down taillight, and gauge cluster with less "presence".

Looks sweet to my eyes. I like them modified from stock a bit, but keeping the 'look' the same. Bars, paint, new suspension, that's a recipe for a nice GS for me. Again, it varies from person to person.Originally posted by Shwartz View PostOK, how about a compromise for my fist road bike?

The important thing is setting out on a realistic project that you can finish and have a reliable and good looking bike at the end of it.

To be honest I can't quite tell. From the pic (remember, not my bike) i think the blacked out portion isn't round enough to be the stock lens so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a piece of tinted mylar or lexan (basically plexi-glass) with the bulbs behind it.Originally posted by GS650E_81 View PostSchwartz -
I really like that tail light is that the stock one with a blacked out lense?
I was thinking about it and planned to do something like this myslef. I can delete the turn signals if I can incorporate the bulbs for them into this same lens cover. I can easily purchase some LED arrays from an online supplier for a couple bucks and makeup some type of multi-light array with signals, running lights, and brake lights all in the same housing.
