The vin decal on 81 GS750 EX frame steering tube is peeling and missing pieces. Is there a way to get a replacement?

I don't believe you'll ever find one except off another bike and it won't have the same data imprinted on it.
Same thing happened with my GS1000, cable rubbed it off I think, but I put as much of it back together in it's proper place and gorilla glued the bits and pieces.
If you do find a replacement let me know. -
The VIN should also be stamped into the Steering head.
Is this just a cosmetic thing?Comment

It can be done, but the manufacturer would require an original to base his pattern on....
