A cheap what? White smoke?where can I get a cheap one of these and how do you fit them??
My 2006 Yamaha VStar 1100 air-cooled motorcycle has 10k miles on it, and has white smoke in the exhaust. Its not water condensation because it doesnt smoke on start up, rather any time the engine is hot and has been running for a while. The smoke has a distinct burned oil…
,
OEM white exhaust smoke is generally very expensive...

Link took me to some kind of community forum, with someone asking about white exhaust smoke on a Yamahaha
Aftermarket white exhaust smoke might be cheaper, but less reliable...White Exhaust Smoke
My 2006 Yamaha VStar 1100 air-cooled motorcycle has 10k miles on it, and has white smoke in the exhaust. It's not water condensation because it doesn't smoke on start up, rather any time the engine is hot and has been running for a while. The smoke has a distinct burned oil smell.
Took the bike to the shop. The engine has good compression. The oil was low, so they added a quart. Carb was cleaned, new spark plugs installed (old plugs were heavily fouled, even after having been replaced two months earlier during a tune-up).
Got the bike out of the shop and it smoked a little bit on the ride home, but now two weeks later the bike is smoking almost as bad as it was two weeks ago. Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions how to repair, or pointers I can give the shop when I return the bike?

Yeah - you and I were thinking alike.
Edit: On that Yamahaha - maybe this has failed:

Probably not correct....
My first thought when I read "white smoke" was a failed head gasket and anti-freeze was getting into the combustion chamber ...
Does it smell sweet ..? Head gasket time..
Check your oil for signs of leaking engine coolant too...

Oh - one of THOSE.
A member here may have one, or just watch Fleabay. They turn up quite often. Some are in better shape than others.
IIRC, the ones from the same year 850G's are the same part number.Comment

Gonna have to ask (because I did not see it), what bike is it for?
The cover that is shown in the link (finally) will be for an '82-and up bike that has the "choke" control under the left handgrip. Some of the earlier bikes had a knob that came up through the steering stem, this cover will NOT work with them.

loud et
I think I have 2.
One from an 80' 850G and the other I think from an 82' 1100 GK.
You will have to cross reference the parts #'s on a fiche.
Private message me if one will work. Otherwise I will forget about this thread.Comment
