Clear over pinstripe pealing on tank.

There seems to be like a clear painted over the pinstripe on the fuel tank of my 1982 gs550 . Did they clear over the stripe , and what can I use to touch it up. It's a small area about 3 inches long . The rest of the paint and clear is great. Thanks Vince

Is the stripe a plastic paste on? Or paint?

It's definitely not paint on , look's to be stick on and cleared over. Tank paint is black with gold green and brown metallic factory paint looks brilliant in the sun , but black otherwise . I would hate to screw it up.

Yes it is Lacquer clear and being that old it will not do much good to touch it up. It will eventually peel.
