    80 1000G - 79 1000N frame

Noticed this local Kijiji sale ad for a Vetter fairing with mounting bracket and lowers. Does anyone know if the 1980 GS1000G Suzuki it's been removed from has the same frame my 79 GS1000N?

Yes, I know the Vetters won't always improve a bikes appearance but the practicality of a full faired bike in the big spaces and often windy prairie is clear.

The frames are slightly different that's for sure. I'll go out and see if I can match mine from my 80' 1000G to my 78' frame which is the same as the 79' I 'think'

I took a couple of measurements and they 'seem' the same, or at least very close. Unfortunately though I can't see the mounting holes from the picture he posted. You can see the two mounting spots that are c clamped to the frame but a bit above those on the cross member there is supposed to be two holes that line up with the threaded holes in your frame. Make sure those are there or not damaged or the mounting bracket will be useless. I've used other Vetter mounting brackets that weren't 'exactly' for the model of bike and made them fit without too much difficulty so it 'should' work. Too bad the fairing isn't in better shape, looks like it was dropped on both sides, make sure it's not cracked inside. Sure like mine for the exact reasons you want one.

Yes, the frames are different, but not in the area where the Vetter would mount.

        Go for it.

Excellent Azr. Thanks for taking the time to check that out. Will pay attention to the details you mentioned. Thanks Steve too for seconding. It always amazes me how members give freely of their time for strangers on the internet. Cheers.

Although some of us are, indeed, a bit stranger than others, you are not a stranger.

You are just a friend that I haven't met ... yet.
