will a 850l side cover (#47111-4530) fit a 1000l(#472111-4350).looking at one on ebay.they look the same in picture,but just not sure.

As long as the side cover is from an '80 850L, you will be fine. The color and/or striping will be different, but it will fit.
The '81 850L's side covers were like the '82 and '83 models, making the '80 850L a bit of a "one-year wonder".
