An Old Girl in a new Dress, '83 GS1100E

For your viewing pleasure, here's some more photos of my GS1100E resto-mod after several hours of cleaning off the dead bugs, brake dust, road grime, and excess chain lube.

My appreciation to the inventors of Turtle Wax Ice, S100 engine cleaner, S100 engine brightner, Blue Magic metal polish, and whoever invented the cordless drill.

I think dead bugs on the headlight/windscreen look good, along with brake dust and road grime... Looks even better when you wash them off.... Nice motorcycle!

I saw your other post in the custom thread, glad I found this one. Bike looks fantastic, a lot of work put in to her, can really appreciate that, congrats. Anyway you can post up some regular photo's? yours look as though they have some sort of filtering done to them, maybe I'm seeing them strangely?

Yes it is. The tail is same blue as the lettering on gas tank (and the springs on the shocks). I wanted to give it a little of the endurance bike look. Something like the image pasted. http://www.team-gsxr.com/wp/sert-suz...gsxr-750-2002/

One thing about the color of this bike is depending on the time of day, the angle of the sun, solar flares, or maybe there is a dead chameleon in the gas tank but this blue seem to have a different shade every other day.

How is the engine now that you've been riding it awhile?

She's a runner. There has been a few times where I have to let the horses run wild and once I got to ~150 MPH without too much effort. I only held this speed for about a mile till the voice in my head; or it could have been my sphincter muscle, told me to slow down. According to Mr. Google, going 150 MPH, it only takes 24 seconds to cover one mile so now I know my limitations and know that I won't be sharing a podium with Valentino Rossi anytime soon. Normally, I have a couple places along my many routes in the Connecticut River valley where I run it up to 100 mph so she can stretch her legs. We all know these bikes need and like to run and I oblige that need.

I've put about 5,200 miles on since I uncrated it and every Saturday when I walk into my shed there's not a drop of oil anywhere on the floor. I have been in the habit of changing the oil (Motul synthetic) every 1,000 - 1,200 miles and had the carbs sync'd once so far. No complaints from me so far.

I Thank you for your workmanship on the engine rebuild.
