Rear twin shocks cleaning ?

I have some chrome shock absorbers that need cleaning inside behind the springs.
A simple thing I thought as i have never had to do it for old oxidized shocks.

Do I have to compress the spring and dismantle and clean ? thus i need a spring compressor
or is there a soft brass brush attachment for a dremel or something of the likes ?

Anyone wanna pass on the secret as a rag and metal cleaner aint doing it !

I take green or red scotch bright pads (you can get bigger ones like 6x8 or 6x10 and I cut 1/2 or 3/4 inch wide strips. (6-10" long) Then I saturate them in Chrome polish and give it one wrap around the coil springs and "saw" back and forth and keep turning the shock as needed. Works like a gem. I just hold it between my knees or pad the shock mount with leather or rubber and put it in the vice.
Finish it off with cloth strips for the final polish and residue removal.

Also to clean the slots where the coils are tighter I use a small ss wire wheel for the dremel. And a toothbrush.

ll use the scotch pads and dremel
BUT the dremel i cant find a wheel big enough diameter to get in there ?
My ones seem to just be slightly too short
