Suzuki OEM/replica grips?

I noticed a lot of guys at the rally had OEM looking grips. Are people really paying $20/ea for these, or is there a replica source? Or did they really hold up that well over 35 years?!

They hold up extremely well and I'd bet most of the ones you saw were the original ones. Personally, I've never found any aftermarket grips that I like as well but it really comes down to personal preference.

The Suzuki replacement grips don't look like the originals. I learned this the hard way.

I bought a throttle tube w/original grip for my bike because I wanted originality. Can't remember where I found the LH grip. At any rate the OEM grips are quite durable but have very poor vibration isolation characteristics. If the primary purpose of your bike is riding mileage then you may want to consider something softer with more cushion.

I've got the original grips on my '83 with 16,000 miles and they're in excellent shape. The grips on my '82 are cushy and Nessism has a very good point about the vibration dampening. I like stock but the cushy ones overruled.

No kidding. Any grip that is hard enough to last 30+ years is like holding onto a steel bar. I use Pro-Grips on all of my bikes. Their gel grips offer a nice grippy surface and are soft enough to make things easier on my hands for longer rides.
