Is there any difference between the various models of gs tanks and would different cc bikes tanks fit because it is hard to find 1000 tanks

The 1980 - 1982 GS750E and 1980 - 1981 GS1100E tanks will fit. That's about your only options without welding.
BTW, this is a common question and there is a lot of info about this subject in the archives if you feel like searching.Ed

The 78-80 tanks can go for quite a pretty penny. I have a multiple '80-81 750/1100E tanks for sale in the parts for sale section. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...26#post2444626
The one with the red pinstripe is spoken for, but I have this nice black one that is clean inside with just a minor dent near the right knee area.
I even have a pristine '79 tank, but it would take over $500 for me to sell it. It has that much in the paint job. It is the black with blue and gold pinstripes that are cleared in. You can't feel the pinstripes through all the clear coat.Comment
