Paint scan wanted please

If anyone here has a factory red GS1000S and would be so gracious as to have the red scanned and forward the computers mix ticket I would really appreciate it. Probably not many ( if any ) states side but the land of Oz probably has a few kicking around.

I Pmed Larry ( Nvr2old ) and he didnt have a color to use. Dont know if there are any known car colors that are realistically 'close". Thaks for the effort Sharpy.

If sharpy can scan his, cool, and thanks to him. Probably a red from the 60's or 70's will get you close, though. Modern reds have pearls and light metallics in them. If it's just a recreation rather then a concourse restoration, I wouldn't worry that much about it being absolutely dead-on, Chuck. Just go find a real red (fire engine) and I'm thinking it'll be really close.

So whats the fee for a scan?? Heck I would paypal you for a chance at getting a mix ratio print out.

Unless you can have exactly the same brand of materials, Chuck, it will make the scan all but useless. PPG would be a good base to start from, but not everyone in the world uses it. You almost need to have the guy doing the scan, mix the paint right there in front of you, and tint if necessary to get it as close as possible to the original. Maybe if you can pay for the scan, they can mix you up a pint or so and ship it to you. As long as the can hasn't been opened and it's been declared (not sure of Aussie rules) it might be able to be mailed. Lotta trouble and $$ just to get a "red", red, though in my eyes.

The computer should spit out a mix ticket....XXX grams of red, XXX grams of purple, XXX grams of blue or whatever..etc etc. Thats what I want is that ticket with mix ratios on it.. The ticket is what it is and my guy can take it from there. Like these i had done for my blue Cooley.

XXX grams of..what red..XXX grams of..which..purple..? That's the point I'm trying to make, Chuck. Different brands, different names of mixing and tinting colors. If you could look at the door tag on, say, a 1965 Ford Falcon with the correct red you want, and get the factory code, it wouldn't matter which brand you were going with, they would have their own codes for tints and mixing colors to replicate that factory designation.

It works *for those specific paints*. Valspar, Sikkens, etc. If you have a Valspar code and a Valspar dealer, he should be able to match.
I have a friend that works in the paint business. Some....but it's a rare few....can be cross referenced between companies.

I can get whatever i need. And yes exactly Larry...WHAT red or purple. But the computer ticket will say all that. My guy can order in whatevers needed.

Chrysler Poppy Red\Flame Red is a very good match for 83 GS1100E, might be the same for the S. You can get a spray can for a few bucks to test.

Apologies for not responding sooner, sometimes work can be so inconvenient getting in the road of important things..

if it helps, the Suzuki paint code is 07P Marble Pure Red from the parts catalogue for Australia. Paint code for white (just for info) is Eglet white, code 189.
