Restoring Plastic?

My 82 GS1100E looks like it led an outdoor existence for all of its 22 years prior to my ownership (now rectified with garage storage ) and the black plastic pieces look it. The backs of the mirrors (and steel parts, too), the switchgear and the instrument cluster all are a crappy looking grey color. Does anybody have any ideas on restoring them to their previous black lustre? Other than simply replacing them, that is. 8O

Steel wool works pretty good for getting rid of the "plastic corrosion". Afterwards, you can use Armor All or something similar to get the shine back. I have also sanded really bad parts smooth again, then took the sandblaster to them to get back a little roughness to the surface, then follow with silicone etc.

We used to have a product called "Black Chrome" which worked great and lasted forever, but I can no longer seem to find it.

Mothers Products makes something called "Back to Black" Its for weathered plastic and works pretty good.
