Question for the painters
I am almost ready to shoot base coat on my 83. I first laid down epoxy primer (black), followed by 2k primer surfacer (grey). In the process of sanding, I have gone through the grey surfacer in a few places and the black epoxy is showing. It is nice and smooth. I'll be using a red base coat. Will the base coat cover the grey and black equally, or should I go over those black areas again?https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

I'd dust on some gray in order to cover those areas where you cut through. It's safer that way.Ed

Thanks Ed. I don't want to do something I might regret.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zH8w8Civs8ejBJWjdvYi1LNTg&resourcekey=0-hlJp0Yc4K_VN9g7Jyy4KQg&authuser=fussbucket_1%40msn.com&usp=drive_fs

Hello if you have not completed the paint work yet. Spray on a non sanding primmer sealer as a base coat to give it a uniform color or spray a couple coats of black base before the red. requiring a solid base depends o how much binder is in the base coat. Binder is how much clear is used in mixing the red base. the Binder is the medium that floats the pigment. Best of luck.Comment
