I went to sync my carbs on my 77 GS750, but I found carb 3 to also be adjustable. I adjusted the carbs to each other, but shouldn't carb 3 not be adjustable? I also had issues with a high idle after my adjustments. To the point where I'm almost out of idle adjustment nob threads. I got it to idle at 1,200 eventually. Am I doing something wrong?

Nope BS carbs have Blogs as reference
Your VM carbs have no reference carb
High idle generally comes from adjusting the sync too high

As mentioned. no reference carb on VM's.
Reset the adjusting screw under each carb top to mid way on the threads and sync..

A high idle can also be from vacuum leaks, typically from the carb boots that attach to the engine.Ed

I went back and did it again, got 1,2, and 4 dead on matching. 3 is a little off, but it's so close I'm gonna call it good enough.Comment

I went back after doing some more reading. My problem was a didn't block off the vacuum line to the petcock. That was causing the vacuum leak. Once I plugged that, I got my idle and my sync all set.Comment
