    Intake O-rings!

    Hi.
I want to change my intake O-rings since I think they are the original ones and its so simple a fix I would be damned to skip it. When I check on Z1 Enterprises, I can get them for 2.5USD$ each. However, as always (since I'm in Canada), shipping costs are close to 50USD$ as the base cost, no matter what I want to buy. Fortunately, Z1 enterprises list the OD and diameter of the O-rings (38mm and 2.5mm respectively). I'm pretty sure I could get a 20-pack of gasoline-resistant Buna-N O-rings with these dimensions at my local parts shop for 10CAN$. Question is: An O-ring is an O-ring right? Is there something really special about those they sell at specialty parts store that make them worth the price? I don't mind paying full price+ shipping for a vehicle specific part but I feel I could get myself the same O-rings locally. What are your thoughts on this?

Buna-N is the wrong material. You need Viton. Buy them at a Suzuki dealership. PN 09280-38004

If I can find Viton O-rings locally, could I not buy these ones? I think my local shop sells some high quality ones for 10$ a 20-pack, compared to 3$ each at my local dealership. Is there a reason other that the brand name?

From what I understand, the industrial size O-rings will be close to correct, but not perfect. They should work, but why not just order the proper parts?

I just sourced Viton o-rings from a bearing and seal supplier. Cheap enough and low shipping cost at the time (would be more now, with the accursed Brexit).

If you can find Viton O rings with the same dimensions locally then there is no reason why you cant use them. There is nothing special about the genuine Suzuki o rings.

The OEM are Viton (FKM) rubber, they need to be for the temp range involved. Don't use NBR (Buna). 2.5mm x 38mm will work, OEM are 2.4 x 37.6 shore 70/75.
