Currently tearing down and rebuilding the carbs for my '78 GS550. My pilot jet doesn't match the one in BassCliffs rebuild guide and I'm just curious if a PO swapped them or if the VM22's had different setups for different engine displacements. Thanks y'all!

Pilot Jet Incorrect?
Hello all!
Currently tearing down and rebuilding the carbs for my '78 GS550. My pilot jet doesn't match the one in BassCliffs rebuild guide and I'm just curious if a PO swapped them or if the VM22's had different setups for different engine displacements. This may help? IIRC, I think I found this on the bikecliff site?

VM carbs take the tall pilot jets.
Edit: I take this back. Go to eBay and search "GS550 carburetors", toggle used, then look at photos. The pilot jet is flush with the top of the carb passage.Last edited by Nessism; 09-27-2023, 07:57 PM.Ed

I'm 98% sure that the VMs in question should have these. I don't think the longer external pilot jets are interchangeable with these? The Suzuki part no. is 09492-15007, and the size is # 15Last edited by KiwiAlfa156; 09-28-2023, 06:02 PM.82 GSX1100SXZ Katana
