    Fuel tank plug

    What are you guys using to plug the fuel petcock hole when tank stripping? im struggling to find a plug that will fit, cant find anything on amazon or any parts sites and struck out at the local hardware stores, any help would be appreciated

    1/4" thick aluminum plate about 1" wide. Drill holes for screws, and use a 1/8" sheet of rubber for the seal.

      And if you drill a hole in that plate, tap it for 1/4 or 3/8 NPT you can screw a modern style petcock into it.

        An old inner tube makes a great rubber gasket for that purpose of sealing off the petcock opening between the plate and the tank .

          Yep what they said. I use one of the plumbing expanding pipe bungs from Home Depot for the top one (you have to sand red plastic down a bit to fit).
