Gas in air box 1982 GS300L

My 1982 Suzuki GS300L was starting to act up. It would start up great and idle. It would throttle up fine as well. But after a few minutes, it wouldn’t idle properly. I would have to keep the throttle up to keep it alive.

I then started tearing it apart and found gas in the air box! A fair amount of gas! I then was wonder How to get the gas out of the air box, then I found a drain plug. the gas must of accumulated for a while.

Is this a result of faulty/ mis- adjusted float valves?
also, would this be why the bike wasn’t idling properly?

Yes, float valves, and yes, bad idle. You need to do maintenance. Clean carbs, change O-rings, etc.
