    Dry plugs

carb.jpg Hello . I ve been trying to start the gs 850 but it wont run . Carbs were totally rebuilt . Ive got the tank off and running a drip feed for fuel .
If i spray easy start into the carbs the bike fires instantly . Took each spark plug out and all of them are dry with no fuel smell at all .
Its a mystery . Float bowls are full also .
Also where does this connect to ?

I believe your pic is of carb # 2? We number cabs/cylinders 1 2 3 4 left to right (as you sit on the bike). So that port on the front of carb # 2 gets a hose to the smaller nipple on the petcock and provides the vacuum. With the tank off and feeding the carbs with a bottle, you need to cap that port.

Apply full “choke” and use no throttle during cranking

Thanks that's helpful. I'll plug the port and give it full choke to see what happens then report back.

Not just choke, the "no throttle" is just as important.

Evening all , still no joy . Bike fires then dies .....
Still dry plugs . All 4 float bowls are full so from the carb to the cylinders something is stopping fuel getting there ?
Ive just read that running a fuel filter affects the fuel flow ? I have a filter inline.

Do the air flow ( vent) pipes need to vent openly because mine are joined with a T piece .
