So I decided to try something different. I hooked up the carbs to my old fuel tank, put it in prime and let the bowls fill up. The carbs fit perfectly on top of a 10 gallon home depot bucket to keep them nice and level.
First positive observation was no leaks and fuel flow stoppage.
Then I put a graduated cylinder under the float bowls and one by one removed the screws to measure the fuel volume. There was a bit of spillage on the first two as I tried to remove the screw completely and a little gas wicked onto the wrench and away from the collector.
I measured about 54, 54, 56 and 58 ml of gas in each bowl respectively. I will repeat the measurement while just loosening the screws enough to start the flow to avoid any loss.
Is this a viable way to measure static volume/float height accuracy. Is there a spec. for static float bowl volume?
