    GS1000S 4-into-1 exhaust system recommendations?

I’m lookimg to replace the stock exhaust on my 1980 GS1000S with something period-correct, but if I can’t find a 44-year-old system I will need to get something new. On EBay I’ve found offerings from Delkevic, Marving and Moto GP Werks. Does anybody have any real-world experiences or recommendations to share?

    Thanks!

If you consider performance Hindle makes the best Gs1000 pipe. 4 > 2 >1 for better mid range
Ripple Rock Racers manufactures custom performance motorcycle exhausts and aluminum billet triples. More horsepower, less weight. For those that are serious about racing.

Relatively inexpensive, if it isn't tariff-ed

The 1979 GS1000L exhaust system is similar to the 1980 1000S system. The S system has different indents in the pipes for the brake and shifter, but most people wouldn't notice. There is a guy on ebay with a very nice set of these pipes, but he wants stupid money for them. Maybe see if he will make you a deal?

Search "GS1000 exhaust", then toggle USED

Look into Vance & Hines "Street Megaphone."
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

As I understand it, the Moto GP Werks is a replica of the Yoshimura system, so, most correct?
          1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
          1978 GS 1000 (parts)
          1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
          1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
          1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
          2007 DRz 400S
          1999 ATK 490ES

Thanks for the leads! V&H doesn’t list anything anymore, nor does Kerker, or Yoshimura. I can’t find the EBay auction referenced above?

I just performed the search again, and they came right up.

For comparison to Trevor's photos, here is one of my old S's with the factory S pipes. A close eye is needed to notice any difference.

Oh, sorry, you’re referencing the E-bay auction for factory S pipes? I thought you were referring to an auction for a 4-into-1 system. Thanks!

Depends how deep your pockets are & if you want to run a centerstand..... The Delkovic the budget option but there is nothing wrong with it. Good pipe. Not sure if you can run centrestand but I think you can. I could on the 1100G that I ran it on. It's a similar shape & style to the Vance & Hines pipe (I ran one of those on a 1000G and also my 1000E).

MotoGpWerks - Local California guy. Does Amazing work. It's a Yoshi copy. No Centrestand & you'll have to remove it everytime you want to change the oil (I ran an original Yoshi on my 1000 for a while, it's a great pipe but I got fedup with the on/off part of it). I've never had one of his pipes but I've spoken to him, he knows his stuff and gets great reviews all over the interwebs.....

Marvin - Not stainless but the chrome is very good quality. I run this on the 1000 (after the Yosh, I also ran a V&H on it for a year too). The flat collector gives more ground clearance under the bike. You can run Centrestand & change oil etc fine.

                      Trevor -

I'm looking at your brake pedals on the 2 Cooleys. One seems to be more rearward, but the other seems to have a non stock engine (clutch) cover. Both brake pedals stock?

Hmmm good question. I never noticed. It’s just a yoshi decal I took off before selling.
                        I flipped that bike.

Really? Oil sight windows look different sized.

I fitted the Delkevic pipe 3 years ago and it have been great. Good sound compared with the old standard system.
