78gs1000 EC is the float height adjustment done with float resting on needle under its own weight or just touching the needle? Thanks.

Just touching. However, if the float needle spring can't support the weight of the float, it's best to replace the float valve as an assembly. Use real Mikuni, or Keyser parts. Most others are low quality.Ed
