80 GS450L Carb Mixture Screws...Can't Buy?

There is crap in the port leading to the mixture screw. Screw it back in and clean this with a drill bit and carb cleaner. Don't damage the head of the screw with the bit.

Very strange that the screws won’t come out. You might want to try a dab of 5 min epoxy on a small nail head to stick down on the screw, just keep the glue off sidewalls of the tunnel. Once the glue is dry you can pull out the screw by pulling the nail.

If you find the screws are damaged I think Z1 sells them separately. Search though the section on the GS1000 carbs, which are BS34 and similar to those 450 carbs. You can also post an ad here in the Parts Wanted forum. I should have a couple of those screws laying around so let us know what you find after you get them out.

Yep, good call Bill. Try turning the screw back in, don't bury into the tunnel or the tip will break off and then you have a whole new set of problems.....Then spray the crap out of it with carb cleaner and ensure the threads of the tunnels are clean.

When you dipped it with the screw in place, the rubber o-ring probably melted in there and now you have a mess of congealed rubber...

I guess......worth a shot anyway.

Ok, they're finally out. The spring that is on the screw was missing, thanks PO! Anyways, so here is what I found for the gs1000

Do have a digital calipers ? Just measure one you already have.

Take a close look in the carb body for the spring, washer and o-ring. I use a long, thin and tapered screw to get these out.
