    Removing POR

I stuffed up my POR fuel tank install.

The bloody thing peeled right off and a HUGE chunk has become dislodged and impossible to get our of the fuel hole.

Am going to try acetone or MEK (i think it is the same thing) to try and strip it out.

If that does not work I will then try molasses (i think that is how you spell it)

    Any thoughts ideas?

Media balasting or a new tank, are my thoughts. Never heard of the molasses as a method. Let us know how that goes...

Paint stripper, the strongest stuff you can find (sold as aircraft paint stripper in the US), and some aquarium rocks (sharp edge stones) helps break up the sealer. MEK is also helpful (it evaproates slower than acetone). It's a long tough road getting the old sealer out. You need to fashion some reliable plugs for the tank openings, and allow pressure build up to bleed off while the solution works. Figure on several applications of stripper/MEK along with shaking the solution at every opprotunity.

I've done three tanks and let me tell you it's a LOT of work. It took me over a week to get the sealer all out, followed by another week to properly remove rust from the tank.

The sealer manufactuers tell you the stuff can go down over rust but I don't believe it. I remove ALL the rust before sealing. It takes a lot of time to do the job right but it can be done properly.

Can you get the chunk out through the float access hole?
