Using water to check float level

I have a set of carbs off a bike and was wondering if it is ok to use water to fill the float bowls instead of fuel to check the proper float level. I'm in a place that won't deal well with all the fumes from the gas and "I KNOW" it's going to take me multiple trys. Hope this isn't too stupid of a question.

Doesn't seem like it would hurt it the carbs are off the engine, it would show if there was a real problem in one float bowl. The real fuel level test is done at idle so that wouldn't work too well with water.

The specific gravity of gasoline is lower than water so the fuel level will be low using water than with gas but it would show if the levels are all the same.
