bigger mains?
well yet another questions for u guru's.. on my gs1100e i have 4-1 pipe(make unknown) and pod filters. i was nec=ver told if it had a jet kit in it at all. now it runs perfectly up to about 75% throttle then it spit and sputter which i think is because it is leaning out? or could it be that i'm not getting enough spark. i ran 2 tanks worth of seafoam thru the tank aswell and that took the mid range stutter out. checked the plugs they all seem to be okay but i replaced them anyways all gapped correctly of course. so whats the deal? think i need new mains or should i get a stage3 kit or is there an electrical issue that is commonly know to cause this issue? thanks in advance -

Get a DJ kit.
Don't ride it until you put in some 135 mikuni mains and shim the jet needle.
You could hole a piston.
Ask me how I know -

I tend to think its prolly already been re-jetted. Unless the 1100E's are different from the other GS's would it even run with those mods and no jet mods??
Chef??
Run "perfect" up to 75% throttle sounds like a dirty main or its not getting fuel.
At any rate it wouldnt hurt to remove the carbs and have a looksee. Might even think about dipping em while ya got em off.
Start on that today and you'll be riding again next weekend.Comment

pull a needle.
if it is adjustable chances are that it has a DJ kit.
i think it does not.
it you mean about 60% throttle then that is where the DJ needles come into play..kinda maybe kinda.Comment

I run a 135 Mikuni main and a DJ jet needle on 2 notches from the bottom.
Also a 47.5 pilot jet and 3-3.5 turns out on the idle mixture screws.
This is with pods and a Kerker 4-1.Comment

Bill a 135 Mikuni? That's why you burnt it up
.
Doesn't he need 132/137 Stage III Dynojets for a stock motor pod/pipes?Comment

138DJ, Jim. There is no 137. I always forget whether its divide the DJ size by .937 or multiply.. If its multiply, the MiC equivalent is roughly a 130..Comment

I didn't see the year of your bike. The DJ kit I have on my '79 motor is:http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=4057 The Pilot jets stay stock 15's assuming you are not at high altitudes, or have a later model.Comment

Josh,
While the multiplier is more accurate (apparently), If you recheck the table for conversion you will notice that in the range of a typical 1100 GS (120-140 Mikuni) That there is about an offset of 10.
So a DJ = Mikuni + 10 conversely
a Mikuni = DJ - 10
