I dipped a set about 2 months ago and the bike ran a slightly rough until I sinced them.

Could the carbs be way out of sinc?

I have bench sinced RS flatslides but not a set of CV's. I would imagine it is the same process.

      OK...its coming back to me

I turned up the idle adjustment screw for the bike to run after I re assembled the carbs. I then began to sinc them and as the carbs became sincronized I needed to turn the idle down. I did this for a few iterations.

      Runs great now.

The idle adjustment is a single knob (not a screw). It affects all the carbs simutaneously by opening (or closing) the butterflies. Turning it clockwise increases the idle.

Sincing the carbs gets all the butterflys (or affective vacuum) close to the same level.

oops. I mis-read your post. I thought you were talking about the idle air-mixture screws. I have tried mession with the idle adjustment screw with no luck. I did bench sync the carbs

Your Mixture screws are set 2- 2 1/2 turns out right?

I was playing with them one day, and it wouldn't even start half the time if they weren't right!
(on my BS carbs, theres a screw on the Nose of each carb)

I have them at 3 turns out right now. Should I turn them in a touch?

I just checked it and I read 120, 105, 97, 127. These aren't looking very good are they?

                        Hi,

Yes, I've seen better compression numbers. Sometimes a valve adjustment is necessary. Sometimes it's just a stuck ring that will work itself loose as you ride it spiritedly.

You say it won't run without choke? Could it be that there is still something clogged in a pilot circuit somewhere? Have you sealed up the intake system?

                        Thank you for your indulgence,

Silly question, but did you remember to tighten the bands on your intake/airbox boots?

I was beating my head against a wall for a couple hours trying to figure out why my bike would take all sorts of fenagaling to start and warm up, but ran nearly perfect once hot. Turns out I didn't tighten the intake boots, and the bike had a huge intake leak until the carbs got warm.
