Need some advice, '85 550E carbs...

I can't believe how small these stock main jets are in these carbs...

    1 & 4 are 90.0
    2 & 3 are 97.5

These are the specified main jets sizes for a stock "E" bike as found in the Suzuki service manual.

I was thinking of using 97.5 mains in 1/4, and 105 mains in 2/3. Would these work with the stock airbox fitted with a K&N drop in filter?

If I were to scrap the airbox & use K&N pods what size mains would be recommended?
    Current OEM carb set-up is:

    1/4 - 90 main
    2/3 - 97.5 main
    fuel pilots - 37.5
    air pilots - 155
Just looking for some feedback, particuarly from those with similar bike.

    thanks,

    mike

You also don't want more than two threads up of color on the plugs.

        thanks Bill,

Yes, i agree - I'm currently in the middle of dipping & cleaning these siamese carbs. I was just looking for opinions.

How's that beast of yours running?? You haven't blown this one up yet have you??

          YET???
I don't like being kicked in the head over and over so I'm being extra cautious hence cutting the plugs.
Set advance with degree wheel ect ect ect

            Hiker,

I don't know how simmilar they are, but I have an 83 with the dual carbs all stock. Jets in mine are:

            1-4 95
            2-3 102.5
            pilot 35
            screws 3.5 turns +- 1/4 depending on cylinder #

To me your mains sound lean and you pilots sound ritch. Yours IS 2 years newer than mine though.

            Hope it helps. Good luck.
