    highest rpm method

so i am trying to tune these bad boys in and no matter how i turn cylanders 1 and 2 the rpm never changes...3 and 4 are working wonderfully...one thing i did notice was a little bubbling up from screw number 3...i know when i got my o-ring kit from robert barr it did not come with these o rings...anyway...what would be causing the unresponsiveness from carb 1 and 2?

    Have you synched the carbs?
If those two cylinders aren't doing their share of the work at idle, turning their screws won't effect the RPM at all. Or you could still have some of the pilot circuit passages blocked.

        Vacuum synch them.
If the cylinder is not doing any thing at idle, there is little or no airflow in that carb, which means no fuel is moving anywhere in that carburetor. The other cylinders have air moving through them, so they are pulling fuel through their carburetor, and you can adjust the mixture on them. Do the vacuum synch to make sure they are all doing about an even share of the work, then adjust the idle again, hopefully all the screws will have some effect.

Even after a good bench synch, there are always one or two cylinders that are way off and need to be adjusted.

If the passages of the pilot circuit are clogged, the mixture adjustment on that carb won't work correctly, as there is no mixture to adjust.

But is it firing strong at idle or only when you open the throttle?
Vacuum synchronizing is routine stuff, very easy and quick, and required if you want a half assed running bike...

I don't really care how poorly or how well your bike runs... I'll never ride it. But you did ask what's wrong with it.

He's saying that you can do anything that you'd like to do to your motorcycle and it's your choice and yours alone. Y'know, you can have your bike run any way you would like it to.

It's kinda like saying "Well, you can do whatcha want, but I'd do it this way..."

A cursory glance over his page should reveal links to all of the information you need. The information you seek will be contained in one or several of the carb rebuild tutorials.

Good luck. I'm going to ride off to the land of nod.

Bubbling up from the idle mixture screw? Get some o-rings for those.

                          Hi,

Look carefully. On my site is a link to Mr. bwringer's site. That's where you'll find a carb sync guide.

                          Thank you for your indulgence,

Robert's O-ring kit should have come with those tiny little O-rings for the pilot screws. Not sure why they went missing but I'd get some for sure.
