hey guys, forgive me for starting a new thread on this, but if it saves someone the hassles i went through its worth it.as mentioned in previous threads, i had overflow problems on carbys on the gs 550. i managed to correct all but one carby and desite many hours and frustrations, i couldnt stop number 3 from a medium drip, drip. in sheer desperation i swapped the float bowl from number 4 (which i knew was fine) to number 3 and vice versa-low and behold, number 3 was cured, but now number 4 was dripping! so i removed the suspect foat bowl and filled it with fuel- guess what? there was a split in the brass overflow tube, so no amount of adjustments could have fixed it. a quick coat of araldite,an hour later, tested and all is fine! so, it pays to inspect all avenues when dealing with old carbys.thanks for your indulgence. regards, steve

Hi,
Excellent sleuthing! And thanks for sharing your solution. Yes, leaky floats can sometimes be quite a pain.
Thank you for your indulgence,
