Smallest fuel tank that will fit GS1000

Anyone know what the smallest fuel tank is (Suzuki or other brand) that will fit my 78 GS1000E? It's going vintage racing and the tank that came on it is huge (may or may not be the original tank; can't tell). I'm looking for more of a Yoshimura-Wes Cooley look that is smaller and sits higher on the frame, and I think they used something smaller than stock. Much obliged. Rick

Im sure anything can be modified to fit but might require some work and imagination.

Are you selling the tank that came on the bike? If so I might be interested.
    I got money!!

The GS1000 only came with one style of tank. They are basically the same dimensionally from 1978 to 1980. If the rules allow you to go non-stock, I suppose your options are only limitied by your fabricating skils and or your pocketbook. Any picture I've seen of a Yoshimura GS1000 had what looked to be the stock tank. Maybe it wasn't, but it sure looked that way.

Thanks, guys. Makes me wonder if I have a stock 1000 tank or if it's maybe off an 1100. I need to do some research. I have decent fab skills, including welding, and I've beat my share of tank tunnels to make smaller tanks fit, but I'd rather not do that this time. The tank will be for sale once I find a suitable replacement. Maybe you guys can tell me what tank I've got from this picture?

I think that may be a '79 or '80 GS1000 tank. If it were a '78 the stripe and emblem would be in the indented portion of the tank. This looks too high up to me. Ray

                  It does.

kindly remember, you're not the only one with a '78 "E" looking for a good tank.

No stock seat; the one in the photo is off a GS450. AHRMA requires a stock seat pan and I think this will qualify and it's smaller and better suited for racing than the massive bar stool stock one. I put velocity stacks on mine and you can have the stock air box and boots for a nominal amount if you want. I can send some pictures tonight, just let me know.
