idle problemNot really sure if this is the right forum for the question but from the manual it could be close enough. Anyways here's the deal. I got my bike running after previous owner let it sit for 2 years. I was tuning the idle up after cleaning the carbs, and it sounded great idling just at 1100 rpm or so. after a few minutes the bike will raise the throttle by itself to 3000 or 4000 rpm. The throttle cable isn't hung up anywhere on the bike. I just dont know what to do. manual isnt really helping me right now so I'm hoping someone here knows what the problem is.Tags: None

 Hi Mr. oklahoma82GS,

What Mr. Nessism is trying to say is that you have classic symptoms of an intake air leak. Your bike needs some lovin'. In your "mega-welcome" are a couple of maintenance lists that will get your bike running like it should, if you take no shortcuts. So now let me lay some lovin' on you....

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

I own a 82 GS850 GL. I ordered all the boots/ o rings for the intake and airbox. Thanks for the input I hope it works. This bike actually did have the o rings from what the diagram showed.

 Hi,

Check out the Air Intake Repair guide on my little website. Did you use the proper carb cleaning procedure? There's a link to it on my little website too. Keep us informed.
