Anybody have a couple GS850GL carb bodies?

My buddy just acquired a 1983 GS850GL for $500... and it started and idled, but wouldn't take gas. (Slides were stuck, among other issues). So I pulled the carbs off and found two problems. First, the pilot jet in the #4 carb had the screw head portion broken off by the hamfisted PO. I *think* I can easy-out it. But... the big problem I've found is the #2 carb has a crack along the bottom of the venturi bore, for the entire length of the bore. I can feel it with a fingernail or screwdriver, and there appear to be other hairline cracks in that body.

The bike shows no indication of ever being crashed, and this carb is in the middle, so I'm thinking it may be a manufacturing defect.

So anyhow, if somebody has a couple of carb bodies for an 81-83 GS850G or GL, I could really use them. It'd also be great if one of those carb bodies had a needle valve seat, one of them didn't come out without a fight.

    Thanks!

    Charles.

I'm not sure if it's a #2 or a #3, I'll check at lunch today (my place is right down the street from work)

This forum is great, and I'm no noob to forums (or to bike repairs). I run the CX500 and TW200 forums (http://cx500forum.com and http://tw200forum.com), and we have a similar welcome package

          Charles.
