    1983GL Peanut Tank Capacity

Can anyone answer this question? I have a 1983GL with its original peanut style tank. I used to know exactly how much gas can fit in it (I read it somewhere or other), but now I don't. I know that it is 4.something but what is the something?

It a rather small and inconsequential question, but it has been bugging me lately. Anyone?

I believe that the capacity is 4.5 US gallons, reserve is 4.76 qt.

      Hello:

This site says they had a 13 litre tank.

Have you checked the info on Basscliff's page? According to the 82 850G it had a 6 gal tank. But the 83 was probably a little different...

Definitely not 6. I know from filling up that it is closer to what Mr. Alan said, but thanks for looking.

Don't you just love Basscliff's page? It's a wonderful reference he has there. I have used it many times before.

Yes, the G tank was bigger but the GL was the smaller cruiser tank.

The G tank is huge. At least on the '82 and later L the tank grew to about 4.5 gal. My peanut tank for the '80 is only 3.4 gal, that's why I replaced it (with several mods) with a larger tank, for a little more range.

The 83 1100GL is listed at 4.5 gal. FWIW the 1100G tank is listed at 5.8 gal.

Capacities are the same for the '82-and-up 850Ls.
