GS-850 airbox boots?I am looking for a source for airbox boots on my 80 GS-850. I thought I read somewhere that they are around $28 for all but the cheapest I have found is $14 each from Bikebandit. Pretty pricey for a little chunk of rubber.

The $28 dollar ones are the ones from the carbs to the engine. The cheaper ones are from the airbox to the carbs. Which ones do you need?

Do you remember your "Welcome Wagon" bit from BassCliff? He has a list of vendors in there, any one of which will be able to supply the ones you want.

I bought mine from PartShark for $13/ea, free shipping. My stealership charged me $14.80/ea plus tax and I had to drive a 60 mile round trip for those. I recommend partShark.Originally posted by Furious D View PostI am looking for a source for airbox boots on my 80 GS-850. Hi,

Did you look through the vendors in your "mega-welcome" and do some comparison shopping?

Did you read the Air Intake Repair guide on my little website?

 Thank you for your indulgence,

 BassCliff

Anybody in the vicinity of Memphis, Nashville, Louisville and Cincinnati, watch for a gray blur going by.

No problem with the list, it's saved as a document. All I have to do is cut and paste.

Sorry about that, I had a note on there that it used to be Flatout, and removed it. Evidently that was part of the link.Originally posted by Ranger View PostFYI theres no link attached to PartShark.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I will fix my list.

Thanks to all for your help. I will order a set this weekend. I wish I had thought of it earlier. Nice weather is predected next week and I was hoping to ride it .

Has anyone ever tried to soften old boots? Mine are still somewhat flexible but would be a pain to get on in this condition.. Sometimes at work we will heat rubber couplings in a oven for a time to make them a little more flexible. But you dont have much time to work with it before it stiffens up again.

I wonder what laquer thinner would do? I might give it a try later.
