    mikuni needles....

im sure this question has been brought up a thousand times but i cant find it. is it me or does it seem that i really can shim the needles in my mikunis because of the plastic maltese cross looking thin that is held in place by a c-clip. that c-clip fits into a groove. all this holding the needle into the slide. i must be missing somthing, can someone please explaint this to me?

We'll assume you're talking about your 80 850. You have CV carbs and unforunatly the stock needles in those carbs are not adjustable.
The cross looking thing isnt the needle. It does however hold the needle in place along with the circlip.
Remove that clip and the needle will come out of the top of the slide.

Edit, they are adjustable with washers but not as adjustable, as in ya cant move the clip.
