Bike together but just cranks
Got the bike together and everything is trying to go but it just wont crank over. It was trying to go for awhile now it just cranks, might be the battery getting semi weak but cant figure out why it wont start. THe carbs were just rebuilt so is there a trick i might of missed?Tags: None -
What do your fuses look like? What is the battery voltage at? How many volts is coming to the coils? Are the plug wires connected correctly?Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

It's impossible to say what you missed because you didn't say what you did. Back together from what state? What's your definition of rebuilt?-1980 GS1100 LT

plug wires are all correct. carb rebuilt they were dipped, new bowl gaskets and floats adjusted to factory specs, all jets cleaned out. Voltage is at 12.79. So basically i stripped it down to taking off the carbs and reversed it from there.Comment

Check your fuses with a power light not just visually. If that 12.79 at the battery or at the coils?Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

I checked them visually and with a multimeter to make sure juice is going through them. Im getting 12.79 at the coil. My idle mixture screws are all the way down should those be adjusted up?Comment

Like Cowboy said; and make sure your carbs have a tight seal. Vacuum leaks can cause a lot of problems. Did you change the idle adjustment screw when you had them apart?-1980 GS1100 LT

Hi,
Did you prime the carbs? Are the float bowls full of gas? Have you determined that the petcock is working properly?
Thank you for your indulgence,
